# Ocyan Oscar shipping VAT allocation

This optional backend adapter allocates a delivery charge across **already
provider-resolved** product VAT rates in proportion to net consideration. It is
appropriate where the configured tax strategy requires proportional delivery
tax treatment, including the approved Dutch baseline.

It does not determine jurisdiction, rates, OSS/IOSS eligibility, VAT-number
status, exemption or reverse-charge treatment, and makes no external calls.
Missing tax context fails closed. The allocation output preserves tax code,
rate, allocated net and tax amounts for the consuming order/invoice layer.

The legacy highest-rate partner override is intentionally not registered: a
single `TaxInfo` cannot preserve a mixed-rate allocation. Consumers must opt in
to the explicit allocation API after their tax/order provider supports
line-level shipping-tax metadata.
